Menopause

Friday 10th Match 2023
The Wee Retreat

Unity Family Services hosted an engaging and empowering Menopause Workshop at The Wee Retreat, bringing women together to learn, share, and connect over an often misunderstood stage of life.

We were privileged to hear from two fantastic speakers:

      •     Dr Sahira Dar – GP with a special interest in women’s health and lifestyle medicine.

      •     Christine Baker – Nutritional Therapist, offering valuable insights into alternative approaches through diet, supplements, and lifestyle.

Their combined expertise provided a well-rounded perspective on menopause, covering both medical and holistic approaches.

The workshop tackled some of the most important questions women have about menopause, including:

      •     What is menopause and when does it occur?

      •     Common symptoms and how they can be managed.

      •     Available treatments and alternative therapies.

      •     The impact of menopause on mental health and emotional wellbeing.

      •     Practical steps women can take to support themselves through this stage of life.

Beyond information, the workshop offered a safe and supportive environment where women could ask questions openly, share experiences, and find reassurance. Many attendees highlighted how valuable it was to connect with others who are going through the same journey.

Participants left the session feeling:

      •     Informed – with clear guidance on both medical and natural ways to manage symptoms.

      •     Empowered – with practical tools and knowledge to take control of their wellbeing.

      •     Connected – knowing they are not alone in their experiences.

At Unity Family Services, we are passionate about continuing these conversations and breaking the stigma surrounding menopause. This workshop was a reminder of how powerful it is when women come together to support and uplift one another.

Thank you to our incredible speakers and to every woman who joined us – your courage and openness made the day truly meaningful.
