Mena Centre
Unity Family Services proudly hosted our Stepping Into Adulthood event at the Glasgow Mena Centre. This interactive session was designed to support children aged 10–12 years (P6, P7, S1 & S2) and their parents/carers as they navigate the important transition through puberty and early adolescence.
With over 100 attendees, the room was filled with warmth, curiosity, and a real eagerness to learn. Parents and children came together to explore sensitive yet essential topics such as physical change, emotional well-being, and Islamic obligations, all within a safe, supportive, and faith-centred environment.
We were blessed to have an incredible line-up of experts who generously shared their knowledge and guidance. Their talks created a balance of medical, emotional, and spiritual knowledge, ensuring families left with both practical advice and faith-based guidance.
What made this event truly special was that both parents and children attended together. This encouraged open conversations between families, helping to break down barriers around discussing puberty and emotional wellbeing. Many parents shared how the day gave them the tools and confidence to build stronger connections with their children during this crucial stage of life.

Interactive discussions allowed participants to ask questions freely, ensuring the sessions were not only informative but also personal and engaging.
Alongside the learning, there was plenty of opportunity to connect with other families over refreshments. The sense of community and togetherness was clear throughout the day, with attendees leaving feeling empowered, reassured, and excited for the next steps in their children’s journey into adulthood.
We at Unity Family Services are deeply grateful to our speakers, volunteers, and all the families who attended and made this event such a success. In’sha’Allah, this is just the beginning. We plan to organise more sessions that support families through key stages of life, continuing to nurture stronger, healthier, and faith-led communities.
